My Ride K-12

My Ride K-12 is a free mobile app and web-based service that provides real-time school bus transportation information for families. This secure platform allows parents to track their child's bus location in real-time, view estimated arrival times at bus stops, and receive instant notifications about delays, route changes, or other transportation updates. The app displays your student's specific bus route number, stop location, and both morning and afternoon pick-up times, giving you complete visibility into your child's daily transportation. My Ride K-12 also enables you to share this information with other family members, caregivers, or babysitters, ensuring everyone stays informed about your child's bus schedule. By providing accurate, up-to-date information directly to your smartphone or computer, My Ride K-12 helps reduce wait times at bus stops and gives parents peace of mind knowing exactly when their child's bus will arrive.

What You Need Before You Sign Up:

  • Your child's student number
  • A valid email address for your account
  • A smartphone or computer
     

Where to Find Your Child's Student Number
Your child's Student Number can be found in ParentSquare or PowerSchool. If your student is in middle or high school, they might know it as their lunch number.
 

Step-by-Step Registration Process
STEP 1: Download the App or Access the Website

Mobile App (Recommended):

  • App Store: Downlaod
  • Google Play Store: Download
  • Web browser: My Ride K-12

STEP 2: Register Your Account

  1. Open the My Ride K-12 app or website
  2. Click "Register"
  3. Fill out the registration form:
    1. Enter your email address
    2. Create a secure password
    3. Enter your full name
  4. Click "Submit" to create your account

STEP 3: Verify Your Email

  1. Check your email inbox for a confirmation email from My Ride K-12
  2. Click the confirmation link in the email

This step will verify & activate your My Ride K-12 account.

STEP 4: Log In and Select Your District

  1. Return to the My Ride K-12 app or website
  2. Click "Log In"
  3. Enter your email address and password
  4. When prompted to select a district, begin typing "Fredericksburg City Public Schools" and choose our school division when it appears in the drop-down list
  5. Click "Select" to confirm

STEP 5: Add Your Student

  1. Click "Add Student" or the "+" button
  2. Enter your student's Student Number, then choose "Next"
  3. Click "Add Student"
  4. Repeat this process to add additional children

STEP 6: Enable Notifications (IMPORTANT!)

  1. When prompted, allow notifications this is very important!
  2. Enable push notifications so you'll be automatically alerted about:
    • Bus delays or changes
    • Route modifications
    • Pick-up time updates
    • Emergency transportation notifications

STEP 7: Access Your Student's Transportation Information
Once your student is linked, you can view:

  • Bus route number
  • Bus stop location
  • Pick-up and drop-off times
  • Real-time bus tracking
  • Driver contact information (if available)

Student Access & Sharing

  • Only one parent can initially claim a student. However, the parent who claims the student can share access with others.

  • Go to "My Students" → Select "Share Student(s)" → Enter the email address of the person you want to share with. They'll receive an invitation to access your student's information.

Bus Tracking Features

  • Yes! You can track your child's bus location in real-time, see estimated arrival times at your bus stop, and receive notifications when the bus is approaching.

Managing Multiple Children

  • Yes, you can add multiple children to one parent account and view all your children's transportation information in one place. Each child's information is displayed separately.

Troubleshooting

  • Try these steps:

    • Double-check the Student Number (no spaces or extra characters)
    • Contact your child's school to verify the information
  • Try these solutions:

    • Make sure you have a stable internet connection
    • Try logging out and logging back in
    • Clear your browser cache or restart the app
    • Update the app to the latest version
  • Use the "Forgot Password" feature to reset your password and ensure you're using the same email address you registered with.

Contact & Support

  • Contact your child's school first. They can help with Student Number verification and account issues. If they're not able to troubleshoot their problem, they can help put you in contact with the right person to provide assistance.
