Science Takes to the Sidewalk

Last week, Mrs. Smith’s sixth-grade science classes at Walker-Grant Middle School took their learning outdoors! Students used sidewalk chalk to create mini-murals in the courtyard demonstrating their knowledge of atoms, molecules, elements and chemical formulas.

A Great First Family Night

Preschool Programs welcomed 164 children and family members to its first Family Night of the year! The Back-to-School Night was a wonderful success, with plenty of smiling faces arriving and heading home. Thank you to everyone who joined!

Gator Artists Think in 3D

After reading Larry the Line by Cassie Stephens, our Gladys West Elementary Gator artists explored the many kinds of lines used in art. Students first created two-dimensional lines with markers, then brought those lines to life with their own three-dimensional paper structures. Great work, Gators!
 

Spotswood Baptist Church Treats Hugh Mercer Staff

Thank you to Spotswood Baptist Church for generously providing lunch for Hugh Mercer Elementary School teachers and staff last week! We’re grateful for community partners who take the time to support, encourage, and care for the people who help our students learn and grow each day.

School Board Meeting TONIGHT!

Fredericksburg City School Board meetings are held at the Walker-Grant Center. All meetings begin with Closed Session at 6:30 PM, followed by Open Session at 7:30 PM.
