Dr. Stanley Jones Appointed as Interim School Board Member

On Monday, August 17, the Fredericksburg City School Board voted to appoint Dr. Stanley B. Jones to serve as interim At-Large School Board member. His appointment will end on December 31, 2026.

Dr. Jones, a Fredericksburg resident and lifelong educator, brings more than 30 years of experience in public education and nonprofit leadership to the School Board. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Action in Community Through Service (ACTS) and previously served as Superintendent of Danville Public Schools and King & Queen County Public Schools, along with other leadership roles throughout Virginia. Throughout his career, Dr. Jones has remained focused on student achievement, responsible leadership, transparency, and public trust. He also brings extensive experience building partnerships among schools, higher education, businesses, and local government to create meaningful opportunities for students.

“My parents set the example of serving others and the betterment of our community. Service is in my DNA. I simply want to serve the children and families as a member of the School Board as the governing body.” said Dr. Jones.
