Welcome Back, FCPS!

Last Wednesday, we welcomed all students back for the first full day of the 2026–27 school year! From reuniting with friends to meeting new teachers and settling into new classrooms, our schools were filled with excitement and plenty of first-day smiles. We’re so happy to have our students back and can’t wait to see what they accomplish this year!

A Great Start for Our Transition Grades

On Tuesday, our kindergarten, sixth-grade, and ninth-grade students kicked off the new school year with Transition Day! With fewer students in the buildings, they had time to meet their teachers, explore their new schools, practice routines, and get comfortable before the hallways filled up. We loved welcoming some of our youngest learners and helping our middle and high school students take their next big step!

Immunizations Required for Kindergarten, 7th Grade, and 12th Grade

As we begin the 2026-27 school year, we want to remind families that Virginia law requires certain immunizations for students entering kindergarten, 7th grade, and 12th grade. Routine immunizations are one of the best ways to keep children healthy, prevent illness from spreading in schools, and support uninterrupted learning throughout the year. If your child is due for required immunizations, now is a great time to schedule an appointment.

Families can schedule FREE school immunizations by calling the Fredericksburg Department of Health at (540) 899-4142.
