As a collaboration between the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and local emergency managers, the week of December 2-6 has been designated as Virginia Winter Weather Awareness Week.

Inclement Weather Codes
The safety of all Fredericksburg City Public Schools employees, students, staff, and community is our highest priority. Ideally, every scheduled school day will operate on a normal schedule. However, sometimes adverse weather makes it difficult for us to ensure the safe travel of our FCPS community to and from school.
On days with severe weather or emergencies, the Superintendent may announce one of the following operational codes:
Schools Closed, Code Green: No in-person or remote learning. Student meals may or may not be distributed.
Schools Closed, Code Blue (Remote Learning Day): No in-person learning; students participate remotely. Meals may or may not be distributed. Virginia law permits up to 10 unscheduled remote learning days annually unless extended by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Division Closed, Code Red: No in-person or remote learning. No meal distribution.

If you're working or planning to attend the Christmas Parade this Saturday, make sure to BUNDLE UP! Temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 30s, but wind-chill may drop us into the upper teens Saturday evening.
