Fredericksburg Education Foundation

The Fredericksburg Education Foundation (FEF) is a non-profit organization established to fund educational opportunities for students and teachers in the Fredericksburg City Public Schools (FCPS). Started in 2021, the Foundation Board of Directors, consisting of an array of backgrounds ranging from alumni, parents, friends and community leaders, is dedicated to providing financial and volunteer support to the school division. FEF 2024 Literacy Project GOAL: To support teachers and parents in ensuring FCPS children become compassionate, confident and competent readers. Preschool - Partner with Fredericksburg Area Dolly Parton Imagination Library Elementary - Rainbow Readers Middle and High School - Monthly Reading Chain Dolly Parton Imagination Library The Fredericksburg Education Foundation is partnering with the local Dolly Parton Imagination Library to expand its literacy efforts for children from birth to age 5. The Foundation Board and the Fredericksburg City Public Schools (FCPS) staff will work with local businesses to set up locations for families to sign-up for this program. In addition, business leaders, school division leaders and community partners will be invited to read books recommended by the Dolly Parton Library to the students in our preschool program, the regional library branches and community centers. How Can You Help? Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free, high -quality books directly to the homes of children from birth to age five, no matter their family’s income. Local partners are responsible for enrolling children who live within the geographical area the program is offered and securing funds to cover the book costs. The Virginia General Assembly is supporting the program by funding one-half of local costs. A $25 donation provides one book per month for one child for a whole year. A $125 donation provides monthly books for one child from birth until they turn five years old.
